Human Condition Monday

Monday was a good start to the week with some studio work, meetings, tutorials and an exhibition at the end of the day.

Human Condition  - an exhibition by textile design students was held at Milsom Place.
'Each student has focused on the positive and negative aspects of existence as a human being.'

Sarah Elizabeth Hunt

'Sarah Elizabeth Hunt’s piece explores the concept of vunerability and comfront within the skin. The concept confronts the idea of uneasiness whilst being comfortably awkward. She has treated the latex like fabric using sewing techniques to create wrinkles and folds in the latex to represent skin. The piece symbolises and represents how our skin acts as a barrier and becomes altered by the harsh environment around us.'

Jessica Rose Beattie

'Jessica Rose Beattie looks into the idea of the hidden and the visible. After asking people to anonymously post secrets to her she took those secrets and decided to find a way of showing them while exploring the aspect of what is visible to others and what is private and hidden. Using embroidery as her main medium as well as text and illustrative imagery.'

Florence Bowditch

'Florence Bowditch has looked into the eroticism of 1950’s pin up posters. Creating large scale embroided pieces that have modern take on how women can be percieved as sexual objects'

The exhibition runs from the 21st February - 26th February and is open to the public between 10am - 6pm.
